In the Chicago Sun Times is a story entitled "Mind Games: Sports psychologists say many off-the-field factors contribute to a team's rise and fall from year to year." Sport psychologist Dan Kirschenbaum and Dr. John F Murray agree on most points, but differ at the end of the article about the effect that putting on a team's uniform might have on the psychology of the team and players. Do you lean more toward Dr. John's view that confidence, or lack thereof, can be affected by a team's affiliation and history, or Dr. Dan's view that it does not matter, that they are all professionals and that losing may actually help them in the future?

MPI Hits a Super Bowl Grand Slam. See the MPI scores from the 2007 Super Bowl at this link. The Colts were better than the Bears in all 7 categories on the MPI, but you already knew that!
MPI has defeated official spread in 4 of the last 5 Super Bowls. Kudos to
Los Angeles Times, Palm Beach Daily News, Indianapolis Star, Vancouver Sun, Times Union, Press Enterprise, Tampa Bay Times, Salem News, and Richmond Times Dispatch for writing about the MPI forecast before the game. This success is impossible to ignore and the MPI should grow tremendously in popularity as it is proven accurate. The only time it did not beat the spread in 2006 was a very rare game, and still estimated the relative performance of the three units (offense, defense and special teams), so in terms of rating performance the MPI is almost 5/5!
